HTML5 is the new and updated version of HTML, the common language of the internet. It has been developed to make the life of a designer easy. You could design a totally different website with HTML5 that you could have never even thought of with HTML 4 version. HTML5 has features like video playback, form validations, Semantic Header and Footer, total audio support, etc. With the help of HTML5 we no longer need to rely on third party plugins like Adobe Flash and audio players. Through HTML5’s canvas element, users will be able to render graphics and images on the fly, again without the need for plugins. HTML5 is being edited by Ian Hickson of Google and David Hyatt of Apple.
Work on HTML5 started in 2004 and even after 7 years of work we are no where close to having a final draft. According to the co-editor of HTML5, Ian Hickson, we might have to wait till 2022 for the final proposed draft of HTML5. HTML5 will be a major improvement over previous markup so changes are likely to come in small increments. Since the release of the first draft in 2008, most major browsers (including IE8) implemented some of the features proposed in this draft and it is already generating a lot of interest from developers. There are actually a number of working sites using HTML5 today, although only a few make the most of this language’s potential capabilities.

Pretty cool listing – nice inspiration for designers.
Thanks for including my site, as a freelance front-end web developer, the interest and approval of my peers is very important to me. I’m glad you like it!
One of the cool features about my site (and one which may not be immediately apparent in looking at the site) is that I’ve written it to connect with a local weather feed which means that the entire appearance of the site changes depending on what time of day it is, and what the weather is doing here in Manchester city centre at the time.
There are over 150 different combinations so In theory it means that any two visits to the site should never be quite the same, although since this is Manchester, it’s almost always just raining here!
Awesome HTML 5 designs, Mozilla and Moods of Norway stands out.
Great inspiration!
