  6. To turn the WordPress Plugin on, click Activate on the far right side of the list.
  7. Check your Administration Panels or WordPress blog to see if the Plugin is working.

2. Directly through the WordPress Admin

  1. Once a blogger is logged in, open the “Plugins” menu on the dashboard’s sidebar and click the “Add New” option.
  2. To find a specific WordPress plugin, enter the name in the search box, or the general type of plugin (i.e. forum plugins). There is also an option to search the newest and the most popular WordPress plugins – just click the “newest” or “popular” links at the top of the page.
  3. Once the desired plugin is located, click the “install” link on the right side of the page. A box will appear; click the orange “Install Now” button.
  4. A new screen will appear during the plugin installation process. Once installation is complete, a link will appear “Actions: Activate Plugin.” Click this link to immediately activate the plugin.
  5. Once a WordPress plugin is activated, the options and settings associated with that plugin can be managed by expanding the “Settings” menu on the dashboard sidebar; click on the name of the plugin to manage the various settings.

    Good list. One suggestion. If you have any sort of knowledge about how to add code to a template, I would add the google analytics code directly to the template rather than use a plugin. Its just one less thing that needs to load. Plus, its a simple few lines you can end before the tag.

    It allows blog owners to raise their WordPress Memory Limits with a couple of mouse clicks, as well as showing at-a-glance memory usage information. WordPress keeps its internal memory limit at 32MB, which is fine for a small-time blog; but if you’re trying to add any robust plugins for social networking or ecommerce applications, 32M will not suffice. This problem can only be expected to worsen with the release of 3.0 which, judging from the beta release, will consume a lot more memory itself without upping the 32MB limit.
